RADIO presenter Ayanda MVP has just been announced as the new presenter for Beatz and Rhymes.

The first season of the music show was hosted by Candice Modiselle and now Ayanda, whose real name is Ayanda Mdluli, will take over the show.

Beatz and Rhymes season 2 will air on Monday, 8 April 2024 on BET Africa from Mondays to Fridays at 4.30pm.

Ayanda, who currently hosts the Y’s drivetime show, Home Run With Ayanda MVP, said the show is a celebration of African culture.

"I'm thrilled to be working with such an influential brand like BET and shining a spotlight on the African music scene, which is recognised all over the world. The sounds coming out of Africa right now are rocking the world and I think it's great to work with the creative and talented minds behind the tunes. Beatz and Rhymes will be a celebration of our African music culture and I can't wait to share this with our viewers," she said.

She will also be a member of the BET Culture Squad.

Former Nickelodeon presenter Lerai Rakoditsoe is also a new member of the Culture Squad on BET's sister channel MTV.

"I'm overjoyed to join the MTV Base family as a Culture Squad member, especially after the incredible journey I've had at Nickelodeon. Being part of MTV Base means diving deeper into the heart of African music and youth culture, and I couldn't be more excited to bring my passion for youth empowerment and meaningful connections to this dynamic platform," Lerai said.

Monde Twala, vice president of BET International, welcomed both Lerai and Ayanda.

"We're delighted to welcome Ayanda MVP to the BET family. As a platform created by us for us, BET has always been a leader in celebrating black culture and giving voice to the black community. Ayanda's vibrant energy and deep connection to the music scene make her a perfect fit for our Culture Squad. We look forward to her contribution to the promotion of culture.

"MTV Base is not just a broadcaster. It's the leading youth and pop culture brand in Africa. Our aim is to promote talent, play the hottest music and bring our culture to a global stage. We're excited to welcome Lerai to the Base family as her values align seamlessly with our mission to promote and celebrate youth and their diverse talents," he said.
