KK was one of his generation's most elegant players and a dazzling ball juggler. He walked with a limp and carried some extra kilos, yet lost none of his boyish charm or passion for football.
Paying tribute to the late legend, Supersport United's David Skosana posted on Facebook that KK was also known as "Nanana take me home".
“May his academic and football soul rest peacefully,” said David.

Walter Mabeba said: “On Saturday, Moroka Swallows legend James 'Aklalwa' Mabena was laid to rest. Now I received another sad news that another era in SA football has also come to an end with the passing away of another Swallows legend, Alfred 'KK' Lentsoane. May his soul rest in peace.”
Phala Modise said: “Sad news for Moroka Swallows fans. Their beloved Alfred 'KK' Lentsoane is no more. KK or Kanyane to his beloved started his soccer at Cimmeron City of Dube township. In 1973 he was featured in the C division of Morris Isaacson against Setotoloane Secondary School from Bopedi. That same day he was promoted to the B division, becoming man of the match on both occasion. By the next Wednesday, playing against Orlando High School that include Jomo Sono and Webster Lichabe in their squad, KK was promoted to the A division of Morris Isaacson. It did not take long before Moroka Swallows Limited of 'Big Daddy' Sello sported him.”
Phala recalled how at University of the North, Turfloop, KK naturally made it to the university squad and how common it was to see Elijah "Boy Baarde" Nhlapo, manager of Swallows and strong man in the taxi industry on Friday afternoon in the late 70s when they came from the lectures waiting for KK so that he could drive him to the next Swallows game in the afternoons.
“Sadly, Alfred 'KK' Lentsoane has passed on. A week after another great Swallows Jame 'Akulalwa egigini' Mabena had passed on. Rest in peace, KK. We will forever remember your swerving among big bodies with that gifted wizadry of yours,” said Phala.
