FORMER Idols SA winner Yanga Sobetwa is finally taking the path she always wanted to take.
She's preparing to host her first-ever gospel live DVD recording. The 22-year-old from Cape Town won Idols SA in 2018 at the age of 16.
Yanga is now pursuing her passion, which is gospel and praising the Lord.
The recording will take place on Saturday, 1 July at TMF Studios in Braamfontein, Joburg.
"We're recording my very first gospel project, and I'm very excited. I've always had a vision to bring teenagers closer to God through music and because that was my vision before Idols, it doesn't have to change now," she said.
The singer recently left Gallo Record Music, where she was signed after winning Idols. She said she's looking forward to making this recording as an independent artist.
"As an independent artist, it's much harder to make things happen, but I'm working toward a dream I've had since I was a kid. I'm putting this show together with an amazing team and incredible musicians to give my fans and fans of gospel music a show not to be missed," she said.

Yanga said that great things will happen on that day.
"I expect God to do things beyond my imagination on that day. I can't wait for people to get a whole new perspective on God that they themselves don't know. I may know God as a provider, but you may not have experienced His provision in and out of season.
"But God wants to continue to introduce Himself to people. That's what Saturday, 1 July, is about. It's a new era. God is introducing Himself in a new way. Make your way to the venue because there will be a lot going on," Yanga said.
She revealed that there will also be surprise performances.
"We have a few surprise performances in store, and I can't wait to share the stage in the spirit of God and worship. I've such wonderful new material that I can't wait to share," she said.
