It is all systems go for the second edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival (RedSeaIFF).
This year’s festival will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from 1 to 10 December, and they are doing things differently this year.
They’ve announced the launch of a new programme called Red Sea: New Vision. Through this, they have chosen films to show that stand out, and that address unique topics. Eight films have been selected to run as part of the New Vision programme.

Speaking about the programme, Kaleem Aftab, director of international programming for the RedSeaIFF, said they wanted films that would show new perspectives.
“One of our aims at the RedSeaIFF is to inspire the next generation of filmmaking through highlighting a huge variety of films that challenge the way we view cinema,” he said.
“Adding this new strand of programming to the second edition of the festival intends to do exactly that – lift up new voices and highlight fresh perspectives on filmmaking that encourage us to think differently,” he continued.
The festival will also see an array of different events taking place.

They will also be running the Red Sea Souk, a four-day programme which will show 23 feature projects and six in-progress films from Africa, the Arab region, and the diaspora.
Kaleem said they want to show some of the best Arab and African productions. He said: “The selection reimagines the landscape of cinema and highlights the impact of African and Asian filmmakers in their own countries and also across Europe and North America.”
