FALLEN heroes of Marabastad will be honoured at the Marabastad Jazz Festival this weekend.
The event will take place at the State Theatre in Tshwane on Saturday, 4 March.
Musician Gabi Motuba from Mamelodi shared with SunBuzz what will be taking place at the festival.
"It's the first festival that pays homage to Marabastad, a famous town where many influential artists come from. There is a lot of history associated with the town and we want to remember it," she said.

"This is a first kind of musical that pays homage to all the artists who come from Marabastad."
Gabi said she's honoured to be part of the show.
“This is such an honour for me, and it comes at a time when we're experiencing a lot of loss and just the communal loss of our struggle heroes. It’s nice to contribute to this discussion and discourse about honouring heroes. We wouldn’t be here if it weren't for them,” said Gabi.
The singer said she'll be performing songs from her upcoming album, titled The Sabbath.

“I lost my dad and a few relatives to Covid. The title of the song refers to the biblical term 'The Sabbath day'. That's the last day God rested after the creation of the world. The Sabbath comes as the marker of a moment after a significant event," she said.
"Right now, we are trying to process all that we have lost. I’m going to perform a few songs, because the album is not finished yet.”
Musicians such as Norman Chauke, Gabi Motuba, Azah Mphago and Ayanda Sikade will also perform at the festival.
