THE late Pope's friends recalled how wonderful he was to everyone.

The popular comedian and actor, whose real name is Kagiso 'Pope' Ramoshai's life, was celebrated on Thursday, 18 April.

His friends and family celebrated him at Jackbotes Hall, Polokwane, Limpopo. The 28-year-old died in a car accident on Sunday, 14 April, outside Polokwane and Turfloop, Limpopo.

Some of his industry friends, including King Monada, Pleasure Tsa Manyalo, Rose Letsoalo, Mphoza Mashabela, and Matapulana Matalane, came in numbers to celebrate his life during his memorial service.

Mahuma Group, Rose Letsoalo, and Paul K entertained the masses with their electrifying performances.

Radio host Makwena "Kwenisto" Makgakga was the master of ceremony at the late comedian's memorial service.

Pope's uncle, Albert Ramoshai, said he played his role as a young man.

"I am so proud of you, Kagiso. May you continue to rest in peace," he said.

He said he was happy that his nephew was an amazing entertainer who loved creating fun.

A close friend and colleague at Shynebright Entertainment, Gabriel Mogashoa, said he did a lot of great things in a short period of time.

"He was good at what he did. I remember how we used to talk about God a lot.

"We did lots of shows across the country. But on Sunday, we made sure that we go to church," he said.

A close friend and driver, Mmabi Mathole, said he was his driver and that they lived together.

"He was a sweet person, and he was good at negotiations. When he left, he was going to an event.

"He called me around 1am asking me if I was asleep. He said we were supposed to update our diary. He was busy shooting a movie called Moruti under Shynebright Entertainment. He was getting lots of great gigs," he said.

Gospel singer Paul K Kganyago said he recently met with the late star. "This was after my performance. He was a sweet somebody," he said.

Molope "Smonamonane" Mokwana said people must stop celebrating people when they are dead.

"We are asking the funders and arts and culture department to invest in us. It's not good to be celebrated when we are gone only," he said.

The comedian will be buried at his home in Makweng, Limpopo, on Saturday, 20 April.
