MANY people suffer a break-up at some point in their lives.
When they cry and reminisce about their relationship, some blame themselves and struggle to move on.
But this singer wanted to help people navigate their feelings.
Hanna Kuruneri recently released a song titled Pride, talking about heartbreak and loss.
The singer, who burst onto the scene as a student at the University of Cape Town, told Daily Sun the song is very personal to her.
“The whole song is drawn from personal experience but it’s not one experience. I think it was spark by one and I wanted to expand and make it relatable than romantic,” said the 25-year-old Zimbabwe-born but Cape town-based artist.

“The whole song is drawn from personal experiences, but it’s not one experience. I think it was sparked by one, and I wanted to expand and make it relatable than romantic.”
She said the song isn’t just about romantic relationships but also friendship and family.
“It's really about the feeling of putting your pride aside for the wrong people or putting your pride aside and then being taken advantage of and feeling betrayed for that,” she said.
She said there comes a time to swallow one's pride for the sake of keeping peace and a time to voice out discrepancies for the sake of your dignity.
“Pride reminds us to draw the line, even with our love interests,” she said.
She said she has had a decent experience in the industry.
“Everyone has been very welcoming, and I have had positive experiences,” she said.
Hanna was nominated for Best Female at the South African Hip-Hop Awards for her debut mixtape, The Girl in The Durag.
