RADIO presenter Sizwe Goba’s biggest dream to work for the biggest SABC radio station is about to come true.
The 26-year-old radio presenter from Ndwedwe, north of Durban, is in the top 12 for the 2024 TruFM Talent search.
Sizwe, who hosts a Monday to Friday breakfast show on a community radio based in Durban, Durban Youth Radio (DYR), hopes to work for the SABC's commercial radio station based in the Eastern Cape using Xhosa and English.
He told Daily Sun his wish was to work for a community radio station and Gagasi FM, a commercial radio station based in Durban, and then work for TruFM.
“Now, it seems God was planning something for me. It looks like I'll leave the community radio station and go straight to TruFM, one of the biggest radio stations in Mzansi.
“I hope I'll make it because I made it to the top 12. We were told that there were about 1 800 people who entered the talent search," he said.

Sizwe said the public voted for them to make it into the top 12, but he still needs votes to make it to the top 10.
“After the top 10, there'll be a top five before they announce the top two on Saturday, 2 March. I hope I'll be doing well because I've also visited Tru FM studies and done the orientations.
“I started to love radio when I was still young, inspired by Ukhozi FM presenter Khetha ‘Sdudla mix’ Gwala," he said.
Sizwe started his radio presenting career in 2022 when he joined DYR to present a night show called Sum Up, which aired from Monday to Thursday from 7pm to 10pm.
In 2023, he was promoted to present the Monday to Friday breakfast show to date.
