AWARD-winning podcast Don’t Hold Back has returned for a new season.

The show, hosted by YouTuber and TV presenter Nozibele Qamngana-Mayaba, kicked off on Thursday, 16 November, on digital streaming platforms.

The show returns a few months after it won the bronze award under the Education, Art, and Culture category at the 2023 The Anthem Awards.

Nozibele (33) spoke to Daily Sun about the new season and said young people will feel catered for the most by it.

“The podcast is a collaboration between VW, which is a German broadcaster, Jacaranda FM and East Coast Radio. It came about just after they wanted to see what platforms they could give young people, where they could freely talk about issues that affect them.

“We thought it would be great if we would invite a number of people to talk about different things from mental health, black tax, career journeys and more. The podcast is about anything and everything about the young, with the hope that would ignite different conversations,” she said.

Nozibele said they went around speaking to young people to find out what issues that affected them the most and made those issues the topics of each episode.

“At the development stages of the podcast, which is what I appreciate the most, we went to young people and asked them what issues they thought would be important to speak about. Issues that they identify with. From that, we chose our guests.

“We will have interesting guests. Unfortunately, I can’t reveal who they are yet. But honestly, it’s from ordinary South Africans to people who are experts in their fields,” Nozibele said.

The YouTuber said she also identifies with some of the issues, and she hopes young people will too.

“We want these conversations to ignite conversations between young people. We also hope that they will get to share the episodes with their parents and families. For example, with black tax, I’m 33 years old and I still have issues communicating with my mum about things that affect me. In the African culture, it’s hard to speak to our parents and through listening to this, they can ask their parents about what they think about the episodes,” the presenter said.
