DJ TIRA is grateful to see the Durban July back.
The house DJ and businessman, whose real name is Mthokozisi Khathi, said he’s excited for this year’s event, which had to be virtually hosted in 2020 and last year due to Covid-19.
Tira said this year, his Fact Durban Rocks marquee will give young people a chance to showcase their talent.
He said he was grateful the government was allowing entertainers to host shows at arenas and stadiums again, because it would create jobs for local people.
The 45-year-old from KwaHlabisa, KZN told Daily Sun artists lost a lot to the Covid-19 restrictions and they were finally getting a chance to make an income again.
The 2022 Durban July will be held at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday, 2 July.
“I am excited that things have been going well for many artists in South Africa, as they will have a chance to put something on their tables,” he said.

“We don’t want any disturbances as we all want to make a living and Covid-19 delayed us.”
Tira said music fans should buy tickets in numbers to show support to artists.
He said it was sad to see many lose their homes, cars and other belongings to the pandemic.
“Local vendors will also get a chance to showcase their work. We all need each other during these hard times,” he said.
The DJ said vendors should expect a great line-up at different marquees.
Among the other artists expected to perform are DJ Zinhle, Themba, Pabi Cooper, Oscar Mbo, as well as Reece Madlisa & Zuma.
“I am pleading with everyone to come and support us. There are many people who need our support, especially those who work as hosts,” said DJ Tira.
