IT WAS a sombre affair when friends and colleagues of DJ Sumbody gathered to say a final goodbye.
The 38-year-old, whose real name was Oupa Sefoka, was killed in a hail of bullets in Woodmead, Joburg, in the early hours of Sunday 20 November.
Speaking at the memorial service held in Centurion, Tshwane, Cassper Nyovest shed tears.

“I remember when we became close. We were at Ayepyep in 2016 when he called me to the side and said to me ‘you know that girl you’re dating is playing you and I’m telling you this because you are my brother and I can see you love her so much’.
“That was when I realised Sumbody was not afraid of telling you things as they are. I’ll forever miss you, my brother, and I love you.”
Sumbody’s long-time friend DJ Vettys and his business partner Kagiso Setsetse said they didn’t know how they would continue without him.
Vettys said: “He made me who I am today and I will forever be grateful and thankful to him.”
Kagiso said he would miss Sumbody for the rest of his life.
“Oupa was a very confident man. He believed everything that came out of his mouth and turned it into a reality,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Sumbody’s uncle Public Sefoka said he was a humble and respectful person. “He took care of his family. He was a happy person and he was loved by others,” he said.
