DJ Shimza announces new partnership

ONE of Mzansi’s brightest talents, Shimza, has announced his new partnership.

The DJ, producer and business owner, whose real name is Ashley Raphala, is hard at work again this year as he recently announced his partnership with Rockstar Energy drink.

The Tembisa-born star made his announcement on Instagram on Saturday, 13 August, by sharing a video ad of him holding the energy drink.

He captioned it: “I’ve partnered up with Rockstar Energy and I’m excited to announce that we have launched an incredible content creation initiative called the #HustleFund.

“This one is for the creators out there who feel like they need a little extra support to help them achieve their hustle goals and take their talent to the next level!

“Stand a chance to win financial support to the value of R50 000 for your hustle and officially join the @rockstarenergyza family by becoming an ambassador for 6 months and get featured on their channels, including various PR opportunities.”

The American energy drink, which was started in 2001, was recently introduced to South Africa.

DJ Shimza, as well as SA rapper and TV presenter Moozlie and content creator Coachella Randy, are the three celebs the brand has partnered with.

Its official Mzansi launch took place on 4 August in Houghton, Joburg, to celebrate and give back to content creators.

DJ Shimza (37) has transitioned into being the leading light of the global Afro house scene at almost breakneck speed and his rise to fame is littered with numerous accomplishments.

He has won a string of high-profile DJ competitions and he hosts the One Man Show, which is a large-scale outdoor party held every Christmas Day in his home town of Tembisa to raise funds for underprivileged children.

In 2013, DJ Shimza was signed to the Soulistic Music record label, which is owned by Black Coffee.

This saw him taking up his place on the list of internationally established artists, including Black Coffee and Culoe De Song.
