A VIDEO is currently circulating on social media platforms, showing young pupils singing about how they hate singer Kelly Khumalo.

But this might put in hot water employees at the school where it was taken, as the Department of Basic Education has placed it under investigation.

In the video, pupils speculated to be in primary school are heard singing that they hate Kelly and that she killed Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa. They are in a classroom, wearing school uniform. Although the school is still not known, the kids are heard singing in isiZulu.

The department’s Elijah Mhlanga said it was aware of the video, but still working on identifying the school.

“It is indeed disappointing. The details are yet to be established and the matter is under investigation.”

Kelly’s management has also expressed disappointment at the department and teachers.

Manager Kgothatso Tsotetsi said: “This has nothing to do with Kelly, but it’s an educational issue. It shows the level of maturity that teachers invent to these kids. I’m sure even their parents are not aware that these kids are uttering such words in class. The department is the problem here.”
