Top actress Dawn Thandeka King has landed a big role on the upcoming Shaka Ilembe.
The DiepCity star will play the role of Mkabayi kaJama, one of the strongest women in the Zulu history, who was the aunt to King Shaka KaSenzangakhona.
This role was played by Gugu Nxumalo on Shaka Zulu series in 1986. The show’s producer Bongumusa Zungu confirmed that the actress will play Mkabayi.
“We wanted a physically powerful woman, and Dawn was perfect for the role,” said Zungu.
He said that a part of the show will focus on the birth of Shaka by his mother Nandi, a role that will be played by one of the producers, Nomzamo Mbatha.
The other part will focus on women who were part of Shaka’s life, including Mkabayi.
