DANCER and choreographer Miss Hilary is forging her own way in the music industry.
The rising star, whose real name is Tinyiko Hilary Khoza, has choreographed for big stars such as Sho Madjozi and Makhadzi, and has released her debut single, Pandza, on Friday, 2 June.
The 23-year-old, who grew up in Chiawelo, Soweto, spoke to Daily Sun about her dance career and getting into music.
“I’ve been a dancer most of my life. I was born into a family of dancer. Everyone from my grandmother, mum and aunt were dancers. They held shows and danced. Apparently, they took me to one of their shows and I went on stage and didn’t want to get off. The following day, my dad got me my first xibelani and I started dancing at two years old," she said.

She said working with musicians inspired her to get into the space and release her own music.
“Working with Makhadzi and Sho was great, especially with Sho Madjozi because that was in 2018 and that’s when she was becoming popular in the country. It was amazing.
“I always say I think everyone has bigger goals and dreams. Wherever you are in life, you want to reach something bigger and this was it for me. I just waited for the right time to finally get into music and I felt like it was time to release my own music,” said Miss Hilary.
Her new single is about telling people that she’s arrived and she’ll be bringing nothing but fire.
“Pandza is slang for flexing. Basically, I’m introducing myself and saying as much as I’m new in this industry, you need to know I’m coming to show you guys. It’s an introduction but in a more fun way. I wanted something joyful to sing along and just to say I’ve arrived.
“It’ll be on my EP called Best of Both Worlds. The project will drop later this year. It’ll feature a number of reputable artists in the industry,” said Miss Hilary.
