AUS Velemina, whose real name is Lebogang Ronald Ledwaba, was celebrated and remembered during a floral memorial service in Mokopane Street, Mamelodi, far northwest of Pretoria on Thursday, 18 April.

A remarkable bittersweet moment occurred when Catherine Ledwaba, his mum, fondly remembered her son as supportive, disciplined, and caring, emphasising his love for cleaning and rearranging home decor.

"What stood out for me and the lesson I took from my son is that i should always speak out, all that’s on my mind, because I was a quiet person. He was outspoken and loud," she said.

“The house will be so empty without him," she whispered and couldn't hold back her tears.

According to the family, Lebogang died from a short respiratory infection and difficulty breathing.

Sibusiso, the deceased's photographer, said he knew Lebogang from the entertainment scene before they became friends and never got used to his craziness.

He explained that the name Aus Velemina was inspired by Lebogang's beloved grandmother whom he adored and chose it because he was outspoken like her.

“Aus Velemina left us with lots of memories filled with laughter, love, and and he made a huge difference in the community," he said.

Golokile Malatjie, founder of Moahi Funerals, said he met Lebogang five years ago and stated he used to promote his businesses before they became friends and ended up living together.

He said Lebogang had played a significant part in his life by boosting his confidence.

"I was a shy and quiet person, but he helped me gain confidence and pushed me to never be frightened. There was a favourite phrase we used, 'Thembi Maskitla Msibi Dog', which meantwe felt someone was withholding juicy information, specifically about Mjolo," he said.

A candlelight service was on Friday, April 19, followed by his funeral on Saturday, 20 April.
