POPULAR comedian Scelo “Mantolwana” Mamle has created a streaming app called Madifa.
The purpose of this app is to stream films, documentaries, festivals and anything that relates to art.
Currently, the app has a variety of comedy films including Mantolwana The Beginning, uMantolwana One (Konakele) and Terrenceon my Neck.
“My dream was to become an actor but I wasn’t so lucky. I then decided to start my own comedy shows called Mantolwana around Eastern Cape and KZN.
“I believe this was a blessing in disguise because my comedy shows gained popularity in a short space of time. I also managed to create jobs for other fellow actors who were not getting acting gigs,” he said.

Over the years Mantolwana has grown his craft.
“When I started I had no idea that the industry would be so difficult. One of the major challenges was distribution.
“I had many comedy shows and people loved them, but I was not getting any distributors. This restricted my work and I had to come up with a plan. The reality is that our industry is not easily accessible. For that reason I have developed this App so people can watch movies anytime and anywhere, as long as you have a smartphone.”
The app also allows up-and-coming filmmakers to upload their films.
“I know there are many young film-makers out there who do not have a platform to showcase their work. Therefore I am inviting them to upload their work on the app. I am also inviting scriptwriters to send their scripts so we can help them shoot their plays then we can upload those plays on the app,” he said.
