CHUMANI Pan has returned to TV screens.
The Eastern Cape-born actor will star in SABC2’s new Afrikaans drama Die Sentrum, which premiers early next month.
An excited Chumani told Daily Sun it felt good to be working again, especially as Covid-19 had affected many artists.
“The last telenovela I did was e.tv’s Ashes To Ashes, but I’ve been doing other things for KykNet,” he said.
Chumani said the new show was set in a crisis call centre and he played the role of a counsellor called Muzi.
“We have been shooting this for a while now and we’re almost done with it.
“My character is loved by other people because of his dedication to his work and solving other people’s problems.
“People call into the centre, some remain anonymous, and the counsellors have to help them without identifying them because of the personal nature of their problems,” he said.
Chumani said he didn’t find it strange that his character spoke Afrikaans as he was fluent in the language.
“I’ve been in many Afrikaans productions, so speaking it is no problem for me. My character addresses people in their mother tongues,” he said.
Chumani said he was also working on an Afrikaans movie, but he couldn’t share details until the production company gave the actors the green light to speak about it.
