CELEBRITY Games are back in full force and the big tournament will take place at UJ AW Muller Stadium in Joburg on Sunday, 23 July.
The winning team will take home R250 000 as the prize. The captains are Khuzani Mpungose for the maskandi team, Big Zulu for the hip-hop team, DJ Tira for the gqom team, as well as Dumi Mkokstad for the gospel team.
Ga Ndlela, gospel artist and coach of the gospel team, told Daily Sun they are looking forward to the tournament.
“I have about 30 players and they are all fit and in good form. We’ve been playing friendly matches for the past two weeks and have been training to ensure we are ready for the day. As head coach, I am confident we’ll take home the R250 000,” said Ga.
He said the likes of Jumbo, Sgwili, Dumi Mkokstad and Lungelo Hlongwane will play for the gospel team.
Ntencane, who will play for the maskandi team, said: “I’ve already started training and I’m sure the maskandi team will take this one home. This is our chance to teach other soccer teams how it’s done.”
