ACTRESS Brenda Ngxoli has reflected on the 20 years she has been in the entertainment industry.
The talented actress, whose breakout role was when she played Vuyo on SABC 1’s hit show Home Affairs, said she is grateful for all the support that she has been getting and will continue to ensure that she shines brighter.
“I can proudly say that during the 20 years as an actress I have served my beloved country and its audiences with different characters. Ndizingomba isifuba for never coming with the same character from production to production,” she said.
“I have deliberately made character choices that drive specific themes and agendas. From choice of language to body characteristics. Choices that will hopefully spark conversations and evoke reactions and emotions. I don’t strive for ‘Phela Sonwabe Acting’ and never will.”

Brenda, who has had a stint as a presenter, continued and said: “Even when I was presenting I worked hard behind the scenes. Love me or hate me but no one will ever steal the amount of time, energy and dedication I have committed to my craft. That is why I’m uber proud of my 9 Safta (South African Film & Television Awards) noms, 3 Safta wins & international Emmy nomination.”
Closing off her lengthy post, Brenda, who serves the nation through arts, said she will continue to do so.
“With all that said and done, I found my own way to serve my country and have appreciated the love you all have given me. From domestic worker’s daughter to self-appointed Xhosa ambassador; I stand tall and shall continue to serve my beloved SA and Eastern Cape: home of legends,” she said.
