AFTER months of anticipation, popular streaming service Netflix has announced the return of its much-loved series, Blood & Water.
The global platform took to social media to share that the series, shot in Cape Town and starring the likes of Ama Qamata, Cindy Mahlangu and Zikhona Sodlaka, has been renewed for another season.
“Mzansi’s coolest kids are back; Blood & Water season 3 is currently in production. Here’s your first look,” it shared.
Speaking to Daily Sun, Netflix representative Dorothy Ghettuba said: “We are so excited to announce that we’ve renewed Blood & Water for a third season! Production has already commenced,” she said.

“Our production partners at Gambit Films – Nosipho Dumisa, Bradley Joshua and Daryne Joshua – are just as excited and currently hard at work to bring viewers the best season yet of the popular series. While we can’t say much about production at this stage, keep an eye out for further announcements on when audiences can expect to see it on their screens.”
Blood & Water is about teenager Puleng Khumalo (played by Ama), who is on a mission to find her long-lost sister, whom she thinks is Fikile (Khosi Ngema).
In the last episode, Puleng and Fikile discovered that they were indeed sisters after taking a DNA test.
They left viewers with a cliffhanger of whether or not Fikile would be accepting of her new family.
In the first season, the series topped Netflix charts and ranked number one in the first week of release in Mzansi, Kenya, Jamaica, France, Libya and USA. It also reached the top 10 in the UK.
