POPULAR Mzansi acting duo Popeye and Spinach have reunited and are set to hit the small screens again.

The two made Mzansi laugh out of their lungs with their hilarious chemistry in matching black suits, white shirts, and black hats during the SABC1 show Zone 14 from 2005.

They disappeared when the show ended in 2011, but Nkere Nyawo (60) who played Popeye, came back on TV as uncle Bukelani on the e.tv most watched soapie, Isitha: The Enemy.

Many people kept asking where Thulani Didi (56) who played Spinach was. Now the two have reunited and Thulani will be playing Stivovo on Isitha: The Enemy, aired at 9.30pm weekdays.

At the moment, it's not clear if they will be paired to play as a duo like they did in Zone 14, or they'll be playing unrelated and separate characters.

Black Brain Pictures senior casting director and head of PR Lawrancia Mqwebu confirmed that the two have reunited.

“Black Brain Pictures is always opening up the industry to new faces while equally celebrating our living legends.

“All we can say is viewers need to stay glued to their screens to see their favourite performers and more exciting storylines to come,” she said.

Thulani's casting agency, Becky Casting Agency, confirmed the news and congratulated him in their Facebook page.

“Congratulations, Thulani Didi, known as Spinach from Zone 14 cast as Stivovo for Isitha: The Enemy, as we continue to represent legends,” they said.
