RUGBY legend Tendai “The Beast” Mtawarira launched his wine collection, The Beast Wine Collection, on Monday, 10 October.

Tendai told Daily Sun he decided to have his own wine collection as he has always been a secret wine lover.

He said the reason he was secretive about his love of wine was because as a professional sport player it wasn’t ideal to speak loudly about alcohol.

“Having a wine collection came as a shock to many people, but for years I’ve had a cellar in my house where I would collect each and every wine I came across and store it in my cellar,” he said.

The Beast Wine Collection includes an MCC brut, syrah or cabernet sauvignon, rosé, and a sauvignon blanc or semillon, which each have a special meaning to him.

Tendai said the launch of his wine was a very special day for him.

“Our mission is to offer a high-quality, locally produced wine to an extensive consumer market and the production of this collection has represented a true labour of love over the last year. I am confident that everyone will enjoy the product as much as I have enjoyed the journey of producing this collection of fine wines,” he said.
