POPULAR Mzansi footwear brand Bathu hosted its first-ever fashion show at Altitude Beach in Fourways, north of Joburg, on Sunday, 9 October.
The show, which debuted the new summer collection, Bathu Switch 1120, saw pantsulas, bhincas, swankers, hip hopers and fashionistas paying homage to the new collection.

The fashion show also showed support for local street wear brands such as Boys of Soweto, Happyville, Godspeed, Benluc, GALXBOY, and Blank, who showed off their clothing while rocking a pair of the new summer collection.
Celebrities who attended the event included Somizi, Rami Chuene, Lamiez Holworthy, Busta 929, Amaroto, DJ PH and Ms Cosmo.
Bathu owner, Theo Baloyi, said his brand’s vision is to show each and every young person that anything is possible.
He said he also wanted to promote young local designers, who like himself have a hard time selling their brand and getting it out there.

It’s just unfortunate that so often black people are represented through pain, through struggle, hence it was so critical of us to tap into collaborating with other Mzansi brands to showcase what we can achieve together.
“And I believe that this entire day has depicted the new Bathu Switch 1120 - collaboration is the key to creating a world of possibilities for every black child. Our new sneaker collaborated with fashion, technology and innovation, as well as embracing the spirit of ubuntu,” he said.
