FRESH START: Babes Wodumo doesn’t want bad blood with Mampintsha’s mum, Zama Gumede.

THE FIGHT between Babes Wodumo and Zama Gumede became uglier every day and it seemed there was no end in sight.

But something close to a miracle has happened.

BABES WODUMO AND HER MOTHER-IN-LAW HAVE SMOKED THE PEACE PIPE!

And for those who find it hard to believe, on Wednesday, 9 March, Mampintsha shared via his Instagram page, a photo of his mum kissing Babes on the cheek.

That means the fight between Bongekile “Babes Wodumo” Simelane and her mamazala Zama Gumede is now water under the bridge.

The gqom queen made headlines last year when she took to social media and swore at Zama.

“I’ll beat you up,” said Babes in a video clip.

“And if that fails, I’ll send my brothers to do it.”

Following the insults, Mampintsha’s family threatened to open a criminal case and also disowned Babes as their makoti.

Zama spoke to Daily Sun and said: “We are no longer pursuing the criminal case against Babes. On Monday night, we met Babes and her family.

“We spoke and she unreservedly apologised for everything she did to me.”

Zama said she also met and hugged her grandson, Sponge.

“It was the first time. I’m very happy right now and I want nothing to come between me and my makoti. I’ve asked her to cleanse my house for swearing at me. She will buy a goat and a cow to show remorse. She’ll also be bringing my grandson so we can formally see him as one of the Gumedes,” said Zama.

She said Mampintsha and Babes agreed to redo the entire traditional wedding, and they also want to do a white wedding.

“This time around they want to do the right thing. I’ve informed Babes that at this time we don’t recognise her as our makoti.”

Zama said this was because they never put inyongo on her as a sign of welcoming her to the Gumedes.

“She was never introduced to the Gumede ancestors, so she called herself Mrs Maphumulo. Babes can’t be Mrs Maphumulo because Mampintsha is a Gumede,” she said.

Zama said she was never married to Mampintsha’s father, so Mampintsha belongs to the Gumedes.

“When we redo the traditional wedding, we will put inyongo on Babes and introduce her to the Gumede ancestors.

“She has also agreed to come to KwaMashu and perform all the makoti duties after the process,” said Zama.

Previously, Babes Wodumo’s sister Nondumiso told Daily Sun that Babes didn’t need inyongo.

Mampintsha’s sister, Pinky said: “The fight was starting to affect my mum’s health. But now it’s all water under the bridge. I held my nephew and my mum had a great time with her grandson.”

Mampintsha and Babes’ manager, Sbusiso Ncube, confirmed the meeting.

“Babes apologised for all the wrong she did and vowed to be a good makoti. She agreed to respect her mother-in-law and observe Mampintsha’s Zulu traditions.

“Babes and mother-in-law are on good terms. She can have her grandson anytime she wants,” said Sbusiso.
