KATLEGO Rammusa said his love of storytelling and sharing his life experiences with others inspired him to become an author.

The 35-year-old man recently launched 10 books at an event held in Atteridgeville, Tshwane. He said one of his favourite books is, Born poor but rich in mind.

He said this is a personal piece that speaks about his life and that he hopes to inspire others through it.

“I grew up in a small village called Seolong in Rustenburg, raised by a single mother and my grandmother after my father left us when I was an infant.

"One can imagine how difficult it must have been for my mother to raise me as an unemployed parent. We would eat the same meal for a week - pap and soup. That situation affected me badly,” said Katlego.

He said through his book, he aims to connect with those facing similar struggles, offering reassurance and resilience.

“I realised while growing up that I had low self-esteem when I was around my peers. I felt so small for not being at the same level as they were at the time. They had designer clothing labels while I didn’t and that forced me to start isolating myself."

"When I was writing this book, I wanted to give hope to someone out there who might be going through the same things I went through. I'm just telling them that they are not alone, and all these hardships will pass,” he said.

From tracing the roots of hip-hop to delving into politics and spirituality, Katlego's collection caters for a wide audience.

“I've decided to launch 10 books all at once because it can be costly to do so one at the time. And also, I wanted to give the readers out there an opportunity to choose,” he said.

Katlego said all books carry different messages of reigniting hope for the readers. He said others are motivational, talk about finances, music and that all have a message to educate and inspire readers to reach their destinations.

He said he's targeting both the young and old and believes all the books have something for everyone.

With titles like, How to publish a book, How to find a record label, Jesus was an African, and God is not racist, Katlego's books are now available on Amazon.
