Atandwa Kani: Goodbye my mentor, Mncedisi Shabangu

THEATRE performer and actor Atandwa Kani (38) shared a painful message to the late top actor, Mncedisi Shabangu.

The veteran actor died away in the early hours of Sunday morning, aged 53.

His family confirmed his death through a statement.

Shabangu was best known for his role in the historical theatre play, Woza Albert.

Atandwa said it was something he wasn’t prepared for. The Black Panther actor wrote on Instagram on Sunday, 24 July: “My big brother, my friend, my mentor, my advisor & confidant has passed away.”

He said that he’s heartbroken by his death.

“Rest in eternal peace TaMnce, Mnce Mncwa, Bhut’ Lekese, Yiza ngomva s’thandwa Sami,” said Atandwa.

The actor said he’d never forget how incredible Mncedisi was.

“I will never forget you. See you on the other side my Maestro. Goodbye ,” he wrote.

Atandwa also praised Shabangu for his theatre roles he performed alongside him. He used the hashtag #MaestroOfTheatre to honour him.
