SINGER Kelly Khumalo has been cancelled again.
She was booked and paid to perform at Maseru Jazz Festival in Maseru Park in Ekurhuleni on 24 September.
Kelly was booked as one of the main acts and she was to going to share the stage with the likes of Nathi Mankayi, Maausi, Encore, Sechaba and DJ Thuli.
But on Thursday morning, 3 August the event organisers dumped her.
Their announcement read: “We apologise to all those who love Kelly. Let us give her and her team time to deal with the situation regarding the current court situation. As Maseru Park we here to inform you that we have seen comments on social media about one of our guests' performers which came to attention that we need to inform our public and society that we are putting Kelly Khumalo on hold. We respect the professionalism of the legal team on the processes.
“The management of Maseru Park, in the interest of our jazz festival, we have taken the decision to relieve Kelly Khumalo of the obligation to perform at our festival and we acknowledge that she is not guilty until proven so. Thank you for your understanding.”

The announcement was well received by social media users.
Tshimega Gaolekwe Motshwane said: “The entertainment industry took long to act on this. Actually, it was supposed to happen the same day when they hear what has transpired just like they did to Sjava and other artist.”
Thulisile Mogane wrote: “Thank you for removing the one who's home door is opened with spoon. The one who's responsible for our national keeper's demise. God bless the organisers.”
Last week, Tribute to Women Festival also cancelled Kelly. They said they are safeguarding the festival.
In the same breath, music supporters slammed South African State Theatre for hosting Kelly Khumalo. They made it clear that they are not happy with this. Her Gospel explosion show is set to happen on 26 August.
Kelly’s manager, Khothatso Tsotetsi, said: “I can confirm that Kelly was booked at this event and that the deposit was paid. We were not aware that she’s been cancelled. But the show at State Theatre is definitely happening because she is the one doing it.”
