Simmy has released a new single Emakhaya, featuring Da Capo and Sun-El Musician.
This is a great move from the talented singer, whose real name is Simphiwe Nhlangulela.
The KZN-born singer told SunBuzz: “The song is for people who’re away from home and working hard.
“It started out as a letter I wrote during the start of lockdown.
“This was because sitting around and doing nothing got me a little depressed and I wanted to go back home to get peace of mind.
“I wrote the letter to inspire and empower myself, and I hope it does the same for people out there.”
The 26-year-old said working with Da Capo was amazing.
“I’ve been wanting to work with Da Capo for a very long time and was excited to finally work with him. Working on the song was such a beautiful experience. It’s something I’d never imagined.
“With the good music he makes, you’d think he’s someone who’s full of himself. I was amazed at how chilled and down to earth he is.”
She said her music journey has been a roller-coaster ride.

“I never thought I’d blow up immediately. The journey has been crazy yet beautiful at the same time.
“I learnt so much and it’s going
to show in my upcoming album in terms of the sounds and the approach I have towards music.”
Simmy, who’s set to release her second studio album, said she hoped to achieve more.
She said: “I hope the storytelling in my music improves in such a way that it doesn’t only appeal to the older generation, but also to the younger generation.
“So I’m working on ways to make my music more relatable, so that even ama2000 can relate.
She said she wants her music to be for everyone and not age or gender specific.
“I also hope to grow stronger, learn more and stay consistent as I’d really like to keep the energy I have right now and not lose myself or my focus.”
