Actress Thandy remembers late cousin, designer Reggie

ACTRESS Thandy Matlaila has remembered her late cousin and designer, Reginald “Reggie” Matlaila, as a wonderful person.

She told Daily Sun that he was one of the people who would design her wonderful garments for big events or shows in the industry.

Reggie (43) was best known for making personalities including Bontle Modiselle, Jessica Nkosi and CiCi look good on red carpets.

And Thandy said bidding farewell to the fashion designer and stylist, who was laid to rest on Saturday, 5 November, at his home village in Mokopane, was not easy. The founder of Reggiestar Fashion died on 29 October.

“My cousin’s death really took a toll on me. He was happy that his business was doing well,” Thandy said.

She added that she had been with him recently, just before her went home to be with his mum.

“He was sick but didn’t want us to know. He had kidney failure for a while,” Thandy said, adding that she would remember him for his good work.

“He was a great fashion designer. He left me with other designers to work with for big events,” she said.

The actress became popular for her role as Lindiwe Ngema on Tshisa, and went on to work in productions including The Queen, Die Sentrum and Gold Diggers.
