ACTRESS Jo-Anne Reyneke is excited to return to TV screens for the third season of the show, Black Tax.

The BET sitcom returned on Saturday, 1 July and Jo-Anne (35) reprised her role as Thuli.

Jo-Anne, who’s also starred on Muvhango, The Estate and Side Dish, spoke to Daily Sun about playing Thuli.

“She reminds me of a lot of my aunts. So, it feels like I’m home when I play her because she’s always juggling a lot of things at once and trying to take care of her family. So, she is really familiar to me.

“This season, Thuli is juggling a lot of work because she’s not happy with where she is and wants to build a proper legacy. So, we see her trying to pursue that and obviously there’s a lot of problems and challenges,” she said.

Jo-Anne said she’s also enjoyed acting alongside her co-stars, Clementine Mosimane, Mandla Jwara, Sne Dladla, Mamodibe Ramodibe and Bahle Mashinini.

“We’ve been so blessed to get along with each other. We have very close bonds with each other. What you see on screen is what we are in real life. Like Sne and I, who plays my brother on the show, we bicker like siblings, we get along and we’re always together.

“It’s been wonderful for me to watch the two young ones growing up also like Bahle. He was only 14 years old when he started, now he’s 17. It’s just been so wonderful to be with them,” she said.

The actress also shared advice for those dealing with black tax.

“Families need to have patience and give someone a chance to work least for a year or two and build themselves so they can stand for themselves. And I know that it’s something we all want. We also want to help the people who have helped us.

“However, it shouldn’t be an instant from your first salary. Otherwise building yourself will have to wait and it will take forever. I was blessed because my mum waited a little bit and let me build myself before I could do anything else,” said Jo-Anne.

Catch Black Tax on BET (DStv channel 129) on Saturdays at 7:30pm.
