VETERAN actor Dr Jerry Mofokeng wa Makhetha is celebrating 42 years of marriage with his wife, Claudine Mofokeng.
The 66-year-old is best known for playing the character of Neo Mokhethi on Scandal! and appearing in films including The Forgotten Kingdom and Tsotsi.
Speaking to Daily Sun, he said he was 24 years old when he got married to Claudine but when he first met her, he did not believe in love at first sight.
Jerry shared that the best part of marriage was companionship.
“She gets the best out of me and she has given me her best. She even helped me when I was at school,” he said.

He added that the most challenging part was parenting.
“Raising adult children. You raise boys and men over 30. When they make choices, they are adults but when they cut their finger, they are children.”
He said the key to staying married for over 40 years lied in the simple things.
“In love you go through different seasons. You take the challenges as they come. Honesty and the ability to apologise, be vulnerable and know you will be understood. Most importantly, God has been a major source in our marriage.”
He advised people to get mentorship and go through premarital counselling to test their decision and character.
