ACTOR and musician Mxolisi ‘Zuluboy’ Majozi believes the creative industry will have a new home in former president Jacob Zuma’s political party, uMkhonto weSizwe (MK).
This is after the party established its creative industry wing, the Mkhonto Creative Council (MKCC).
The 47-year-old musician from Ntuzuma in KZN said the party will fight to bring the former president back in power because of his good treatment of the arts community during his presidency.
Zuluboy, who played Macgyver on e.tv's medical drama, Durban Gen, told Daily Sun MKCC will be different to other organisations that claim to help artists.
“We've created a group to address the needs of our members in the creative industry.

“For a long time, the creative industry has been sidelined by politicians and that time is over. We want to influence the country’s policies,” he said.
Zuluboy said the party was creating programmes aimed at providing equal opportunities for artists.
He said the MKCC's aim was to rejuvenate the creative sector and restore artists' prominence.
“Time for those claiming to represent us but eat taxpayers' money is over. We're starting something new. We need new people who didn’t get a chance to voice their ideas,” he said.
The actor said when Jacob Zuma was still president, "artists were living their best lives and driving big cars, but everything changed when President Cyril Ramaphosa took over".
