A NEW era has dawned for Miss South Africa.
To empower women from all walks of life, in future the pageant will include married women and women with children.
This ground-breaking move away from the rules that have been in place since the beginning of the pageant itself, was announced by award-winning radio host Anele Mdoda.
She was hosting the Miss South Africa 2022 pageant on Saturday night at SunBet Arena in Tshwane.
“The pageant has changed its requirements for participation to include married women and mothers in the competition,” said Anele said.
This announcement comes after the global Miss Universe pageant said that from next year, it would be making inclusive changes to its selection process, which will allow mothers, married women and those who have been married before to enter.

Although the criteria has been changed, the age limit still remains. For a woman to enter the Miss SA pageant they must be at least 20 years old and under 28 years of age.
The incoming crowned Miss South Africa from Tzaneen, Limpopo, Ndavi Nokeri (23) will hopefully advocate for more changes.
The BCom investment management graduate was the public vote winner for both the Top 10 and Top 5.
The judges then voted for her to be in the Top 3, then Top 2 and eventually she was crowned.
She said the win wasn’t just for herself, but for other girls from Limpopo.
“Being able to represent the girls and ladies from home, I know it’s a big deal because now they can feel that their hopes and dreams are also valid,” she said.
