JACOB Seloma from Khutsong in Carletonville, west of Joburg, worked as a storeman for years before the company was liquidated.

He didn’t get paid and wants to know if he should have been paid.

ADVICE

Employees are entitled to compensation for losses suffered as a result of the termination of the contract of employment when a company liquidates.

The employee can claim severance benefits in the estate of the insolvent estate and is entitled to claim provident funds and UIF.

It should be noted that during liquidation creditors will be paid according to their order of ranking.
