HE’S a faded kwaito star. And most would argue Zola 7’s clothes have suffered the same fate . But now, his dirty laundry has been laid bare – in public!
This as his ex-wife Sibongile Nkabinde has finally opened up about their marriage.
Sibongile, who was traditionally married to the once popular TV personality and Mdlwembe hitmaker when she was only 19 years old, described their holy matrimony as hell.
She decided to reveal the sordid
details of their union to the SunTeam after Zola 7 (real name Bonginkosi Dlamini) denied the marriage
publicly.
Also, Sunday Sun is in possession of the lobola negotiation letter from the Dlaminis, sent to the Nkabindes on 7 February 2009.
In it, the Dlaminis confirm paying dowry of R25 000 for Sibongile.
Laying her soul bare to the
SunTeam, Sibongile described the
Yizo Yizo 2 star as a devil and a liar.
Said Sibongile: “I was married to that man for 16 years and tolerated all his misdeeds.
“He married and dumped me in his mother’s house in Dobsonville,
Soweto. He then went to stay in
Melville, Jozi, and I’d only visit him just for sex on weekends – sometimes once a month.
“I’m only speaking about my marriage now because I realise it’s over between us.”
And a wiser and more informed Sibongile said hindsight was
20-20.
“That marriage damaged me in more ways than you could ever imagine. To think, I put up with a lot. It’s amazing how blind and tolerant love is – even to the point of tragedy,”
Sibongile pondered.
“Anyhow, I’m undergoing counselling. But at times I think about how much I regret loving that man, especially because I was warned about him. Funny how I kept hoping things would change.
“And sadly, he still abuses me to this day, even though I longer stay with his mother. He sends me insulting messages. Calling him a devil who doesn’t care about his family would be an understatement.”
Then a resolute Sibongile points out how Zola 7 pretends to be a responsible man in public, which is “precisely what he fails to be at home”.
Insisted the ex-wife: “Truth be told, I protected that man’s reputation and dignity for the past 16 years of our marriage.
“But what do I have to show for it? Egg on my face? All this time I’d been a good and loving wife.”
Sunday Sun is in possession of the insulting exchanged messages between Sibongile and Zola 7.
Meanwhile, the SunTeam broke the story that Zola 7 had kicked out his wife and kids from his mother’s home in Dobsonville three months ago.
And Sibongile said she had since opened a domestic violence case against the faded star at Moroka Police Station in Soweto.
Moroka Police confirmed a case of domestic violence had been opened.
Yesterday, Zola said: “I don’t have a comment. Write whatever you want.”
