TOP South African junior middleweight sensation, Brandon “Fast Guns” Thysse, was the biggest winner as boxing made a much-anticipated return on Saturday night at Emperors Palace.

Thysse stunned Boyd Allen with a third round stoppage, to take home both WBA and IBO Africa titles to win 4@War competition.

As the part of the money spinning boxing tourney, the talented fighter will smile all the way to the bank with 60% of R750 000 (R450 000) price money, and a championship diamond ring worth R25 000.

Allen, on the other hand, will pocket 40% of the price money. An elated Thysse, the son of the former Commonwealth champion Andre Thysse, said winning the competition will open more doors for him.

“Definitely this win is going to open more doors for me,” reckons the victorious fighter.

“As for what is next for me, though I don’t know yet, but I know my trainer and manager have a plan and I am excited to see what the future holds for me.

“I’m very happy that I got the opportunity to avenge my defeat against Boyd, which I though I did enough to win. It was not only me who wanted a rematch as my coaches also wished for the same to set the record straight.

“Going to this fight, we planned few things but mainly was to take the fight from him and fight at our pace and not give him time to breath. We broke his rhythm and took away his confidence, after that it was just about keeping the pressure and keeping a cool head. I knew that he won’t see tenth round,” he said.

Thysse and Allen headlined a power punching showdown that produced outstanding knockout performances.

Only a cruiserweight grudge rematch between Lebohang Moshitoa and Keaton Gomes heard the last bell. Moshitoa registered an unanimous points victory over his arch-rival.
