PRESIDENT Cyril Ramaphosa has added a public holiday to the 2021 calendar
This is after he declared 1 November 2021 a public holiday to give all South Africans, particularly those eligible to vote, a chance to head to the polls and cast their votes.
South Africans will be voting in this year's highly anticipated local elections, with major political parties having their eyes locked on the key Metros.
The President urged all registered voters to use the day as an opportunity to exercise their democratic rights and civic duty by voting in this election that empowers new leadership and influences service delivery where they live.
With the elections just under a month away, political parties are currently hard at work, dishing out promises of what they promise to do when they are voted in power.
Some are promising houses, some water, some even free electricity in a bid to sway votes their way.
