COPS SEIZE ILLEGAL SKIN LIGHTENING CREAMS!

COPS have seized R23 million worth of skin lightening creams and copper cables at the Groblersbrug Port of Entry in Tom Burke outside Lephalale.

Three suspects aged 33, 35 and 44 were arrested for smuggling various items including illicit creams and copper cables.

The three men were driving in a truck that had already crossed the border from Botswana into South Africa when cops arrested them.

Police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said during the searching process, tubes of Epiderm skin lightening creams, Cyproheptadine tablets, copper cables and different types of shoes were found hidden at the back of the truck.

“The trio was immediately arrested, and the following items were seized,16600 15g tubes of Epiderm creams,759 400 ×Cyproheptadine tablets, 13 kg of copper cables and 112 pairs of shoes,” Ngoepe said.

The police also confiscated the truck and trailer.

Ngoepe said the estimated value of the recovered items is over R23 million.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Phalala Magistrate Court soon.
