THE late actor Menzi Ngubane’s family is keeping his name and legacy alive.

To celebrate his birthday on 28 August, they visited an orphanage called Ethembeni Children’s Home in Doornfontein, Joburg through the Menzi Ngubane Foundation.

Together with the BrightSpark Foundation and the team from Bomb Shelter Productions, which Isibaya was under, they donated toiletries to the orphanage.

They posted videos on social media, showing the kids receiving the packages. On the posts they shared, they said Menzi loved to give.

“Happy birthday Menzi. As we prepare to go out there to do what was close to his heart, seeing smiles on people and making a change, we’d like to wish the legend a happy birthday in heaven,” they wrote in one post.

They also quoted him on another post: “We need to rise as men, take charge of our lives and restore our families. – Menzi Ngubane.”

In a statement released last week, Menzi’s wife Sikelelwa Ngubane said this was the family’s way of making sure Menzi’s work continued.

“I’m humbled by the partnership with BrightSpark Foundation, which for years to come will make an impact on the lives of the youth and our communities,” she said.

“Our plan is to extend our efforts nationally, and we call upon government and private stakeholders to partner with us as we continue to keep Menzi’s memory alive,”

Menzi’s former co-star Ayanda Borotho was also part of the crew that went to the home.
