CONTROVERSIAL former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mbulelo “Old John” Mabizela allegedly plans to air football’s dirty laundry.
This as the star, who once plied his trade in England for Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, allegedly announced his intention to publish a tell-all book.
Insiders, who attended last week’s Siyabonga Sangweni Mayoral Cup and Sports Day in Dondotha, KwaZulu-Natal, said the book would be a
blow-by-blow account of Old John’s football life.
Said the first source: “Mbulelo is preparing himself for life after football. He told us he was planning to write a book detailing his controversial football life.
“He told us he wanted to expose how soccer agents manipulated, used and pocketed more money than the players, who actually did the hard work on the pitch.”
According to a second mole, Old John had even gone as far as mentioning his former agent Mike Makaab of athlete representation firm, Prosport International.
“He said the reason he had a food franchise in his hometown of Pietermaritzburg was because he had outsmarted Mike,” the source claimed.
“He said he invested most of his fortune to ensure his future was secure.
“So, all his assets – a townhouse, farm and cars – are intact, the guy’s not down and out.”
When called for comment, Old John said: “I’m no longer a football player. I’m busy with other things, and that doesn’t concern you.
“I have children who know how to read English. Please, respect my private life since I have planned for my life after football.”
Mike said: “I know nothing about this and my relationship with OJ has always been good.”
