MZANSI buyers are willing to go the extra mile to find their dream car.

Especially Capetonians! They will travel right across the country to find the right car, according to AutoTrader research.

AutoTrader’s CEO George Mienie, said: “We analysed the distance range setting on the website’s search function and found some interesting findings.

“For instance, the most popular search radius is 100km, however, lots of buyers were willing to search nationally – the 1 500km radius.”

Buyers in the Western Cape made up a whopping 50% of all searches using the national radius and a an incredible 62% of national Porsche searches are from the Western Cape.

Potential buyers of Volkswagens are the most passionate about their ideal car as these cars top the rank in the 1 500km search range.

Toyota lovers are the second most strict, followed by BMW.

“This is interesting because BMW is the most searched-for make on AutoTrader but Volkswagen and Toyota buyers are more determined. They are willing to go the extra mile to find their dream wheels.”

He also said that each of the provinces have a favourite brand.

“Western Cape residents favour Volkswagen, followed by BMW and Toyota. In KZN, Volkswagen is a favourite, followed by BMW and Ford. In Gauteng, Toyota reigns supreme, followed by Volkswagen and BMW.”

The analysis was based on the top 10 most searched-for makes on AutoTrader for 2017, which were, in order: BMW, Volkswagen, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Ford, Land Rover, Nissan, Hyundai and last but not least, Porsche.
