WHICH affordable sedan offers the best re-sale value?
Sedans aren’t quite as popular as they used to be, with many motorists opting for SUVs or hatchbacks instead.
However, fairly affordable sedans such as the Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Suzuki Ciaz and Volkswagen Polo haven’t quite lost their lustre.
But which of these sedans boast the best re-sale value?
The answer according to True Price, a data management company providing car buyers with free vehicle evaluations, is the Volkswagen Polo.
True Price attends vehicle auctions every week to document actual prices achieved.
- This information is added to the company’s extensive database, which already contains data pertaining to thousands of vehicle auctions. Volkswagen Polo (achieves 70,55% of its original list price on auction).
- This is no surprise as it is one of the best-selling sedans and a really good-looking car. It is a refined package, offering Golf-like ride quality, a comfortable and surprisingly spacious interior and great road manners. Toyota Corolla Quest (achieves 68,78% of its original list price on auction).
- The car of choice for Uber drivers, the Toyota Corolla Quest is yet another South African favourite. Hyundai Elantra (achieves 64.95% of its original list price on auction).
- Hyundai is a brand that has grown in popularity over the years. The Elantra has a solid reputation combined with a stylish appearance. It’s five-year/150 000km warranty is also a good selling-point. Toyota Corolla (achieves 64,15% of its original list price on auction).
- Now in its 12th-generation, the Corolla offers a refined experience and is regarded as a car that won’t let you down. Suzuki Ciaz (achieves 56,44% of its original list price on auction).
Although not as popular as other Suzukis such as the Swift or Jimny, the Ciaz is an unassuming vehicle that still ticks all the right boxes.
