WHO said that Toyota only makes boring cars?
The Japanese car maker’s latest design trends are daring. Look at the newly upgraded Aygo city car to see their bold vision.
The older Aygo was an eye-catching vehicle when it was launched here in 2015 but for the 2018 release, Toyota’s designers smoothed out its wrinkles into a new design.
The standout feature of the Aygo are the new larger projector headlights that include LED daytime running lights.
The X design stays on the grille with strong contour lines framing the large angular air scoop.
The five-door car has a sporty, upswept rear window line and sloping roofline. As before the rear design centres on the upright-positioned boomerang-shaped tail lights which feature newly-designed bulb elements.
There are a few new changes on the inside such as the new multiple-tone fabric trim for the seats.
Toyota also continues to offer a wide range of features as standard. In the new Aygo. this includes a high-tech multimedia system accessed with a touchscreen display that includes USB, auxiliary and Bluetooth connections and remote function controls on the steering wheel as well as an on-board computer. The sound system also connects with smartphones through the USB port.
Other include electric windows, remote central locking, power-adjustable side mirrors and air conditioner.
All versions of the Aygo are now equipped with vehicle stability control, hill assist control, ABS, brake assist and a number of airbags.
The 998cc three-cylinder engine may by physically tiny but it has been tweaked to provide an extra 2 kilowatt of power while lowering fuel consumption to what Toyota claims is 4,3 litres of fuel every 100 kilometres.
There are three distinct versions of the Aygo model with the flagship X-Cite model still featuring an electric-retractable black canvas sunroof that opens the full length of the roof.
