FANCY a new SUV for 2018? Well, hold on before you rush to your nearest dealership and spoil yourself. Here are some exciting new SUVs coming to South Africa this year – and they might just be worth the wait!

Ford EcoSport

The Ford EcoSport took the compact SUV market by storm when it was launched here in 2013.

Five years later this top-selling Ford is due for a replacement with a comprehensively re-designed model. In its latest guise, there are apparently 2 300 new components! The look is fresh too with a new grille, headlights and tail lights while the biggest changes are on the inside where the EcoSport features a new dashboard design and Ford’s latest multimedia technology. Ford is launching the EcoSport in the after March. At first it will only be available with two engine options: a 1,0-litre EcoBoost petrol and the 1,5-litre turbodiesel.

Renault Duster

The Duster has been a big hit locally for the French carmaker and the second generation is heading to South Africa.

Expected to arrive after June, the new Duster features a full overhaul and a newly designed cabin. Interior and boot space will be increased, while it will again be packed with features. It again promises to be super value for money! We expect the existing engine range, consisting of a 1,6-litre normally aspirated petrol engine and a 1,5-litre turbodiesel, to be carried over. Included will be a choice of manual or automatic gearboxes.

Buyers will again be able to choose between 4X4 or 4X4 drives.

Jeep Compass

Out with the old, in with the new! Jeep’s Compass is due to be replaced with a sexy all-new model from April.

Jeep has re-engineered its compact crossover completely to take on the Nissan Qashqai and Renault Kadjar.

Not only is the exterior design quite stunning but on the inside, the new Compass will have top-class fit and finish too with all the modern features buyers require. No information is yet available about the engine line-up but expect petrol and diesel turbo power.

What’s more is that the Compass will be available as a 4X2 or 4X4 drive.
