THE game just got hotter in the SUV market with the launch of the new Toyota RAV4.
With a more masculine and attractive design than the previous model, the new RAV4 is ready for its rivals.
The SUV’s new assertive design includes angular features with a bold bumper, grille, LED headlights and tail lights creating a broad, athletic build.
Then, on the inside there is better build quality with soft-touch materials on the dashboard and door panels. The brushed-aluminium trim adds a premium feel and highlights the interior’s stylish design.
The RAV4 line-up offers three trim levels: GX, GX-R and VX. The GX and VX grades are familiar but the new GX-R is an “edgier” kind of RAV4. tHE GX-R grade offers a more rugged exterior appearance while the VX version is all about luxury fit and finish.
The GX grade is offered with a manual gearbox or continuously variable transmission (CVT) – both front-wheel drives. The new GX-R grade comes with a 2,0-litre engine fitted with CVT and an all-wheel drive system. The VX is offered with a 2,0-litre engine with CVT on a front-wheel drive system that uses between 6,5 and 6,8 litres of fuel every 100km.
The VX has a 2,5-litre engine fitted with an eight-speed automatic on an all-wheel drive system that is claimed to use 7,3 litres of fuel every 100km.
Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, LED headlights, push-button start, a seven-inch display audio and multi-information display, cruise control, reverse camera, rear park distance control, a six-service/90 000km service plan and a three-year/100 000km warranty.
