WITH the nickname like Kae kapa Kae, you expect Dear Godfather to be a mean guy.
Vincent Khoza (62), from Mohlakeng near Randfontein, west of Joburg, is the road captain of his fellow bikers. He keeps other bikers’ disciplined.
But Vincent has a soft side too. He said: “I love it when the rumble of my big machine makes all the kids excited.”
Dear Godfather was a Big 15 Moroka Swallows soccer player and DJ – he used to spin discs with Treasurer Tshabalala and DJ Gayane at Soweto clubs.
Q: What bike do you ride?
A: It is a 1 000cc Kawasaki Ninja. I bought it in 2010.
Q: When did you start to ride?
A: Back in the late 1980s.
Q: Is this your first bike?
A: No, I have owned three others but this is my favourite.
Q: Do you belong to a bike club?
A: I belong to the Eagles, a West Rand bikers’ club.
Q: Do you have a position?
A: I am the road captain. I keep the members disciplined. I ride at the back and watch the riders that they don’t break the rules.
I also make sure that none of the members have been drinking before getting on their bikes. I take their keys away if they have.
Rule breaking members also get big fines.
Q: Why did you choose green and black?
A: Because I love that colour combo.
Q: Are you licensed?
A: Yes.
Q: Do you have fines?
A: Not even one.
Q: What do you tell other Mzansi bikers?
A: Always know that people appreciate when you don’t speed. Your safety gear and helmet are priorities. Respect traffic officers and the rules of the road.
