BMW purist might not want to hear this but the Bavarian automakers future is definitely electric. This was said by Harald Krüger, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG during a presentation at their annual finance conference.
BMW has now confirmed that they'll be other electric vehicles to their electric i-range, which currently includes the i3 and the i8.
The iX3 will launch in 2020. It will be the companies first all-electric SUV. The iX3, unlike its other i-range cousins, is based on an already existing platform. BMW is also doing something different, unlike its competitors who have chosen to build standalone products i.e Jaguar with their iPace, Audi with their e-tron and Mercedes-Benz with their EQC.
No details on the drive train have been released yet but the iX3 will be launched at the Beijing Motor Show in April.
BMW also mentioned that the i4 will be launched in 2020, the
i4 will be BMW's first all-electric saloon based on the i Vision Dynamics
concept which was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year September.
