ONE of SunWheels’ favourite family sedans has been boosted with a new engine and better specs.
Suzuki has upgraded its popular Ciaz sedan range with the GL automatic.
The new Ciaz is a departure from its predecessor, thanks to a new painted grille with chrome insets.
These give the car more prominence and a modern look.
Other design updates include new headlight clusters. At the rear, the GLX specification level adds integrated LED combination lamps while all models also feature a high-level brake light mounted in the rear window.
There is a new hub cab design for the GL derivatives.
The GLX version comes with new 16-inch polished chrome alloy wheels.
On the inside, the GLX models come with the latest touch-screen audio system which combines full Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration.
It has modern features like a reverse camera with rear park sensors, Bluetooth connectivity and voice commands.
There’s also an additional colour information display in the vehicle instrument cluster, displaying vital driving information such as range, fuel consumption and outside temperature and is standard on both specification levels.
The GLX comes with cruise-control as standard. It also has automatic climate control, electronic folding side mirrors, combination leather upholstery and a retractable rear sun shade.
The remote central locking system of the GL models remains, while the GLX is upgraded to keyless access with a Start/Stop button.
The GLX models build on the generous specification levels of the GL models, which include electric windows, remote central locking, manual air conditioning, steering-mounted audio controls, a centre armrest with integrated storage and rear air conditioning vents.
All models feature several dynamic and passive safety systems.
The Ciaz’s new 1,5L engine delivers 77kW at 6 000r/min and 138Nm at 4 400r/min, which is 7kW and 8Nm more than the previous model. It’s either matched with a five-speed manual gearbox or four-speed automatic gearbox.
All Ciaz models come with a three-year/60 000km service plan and a five-year/200 000km warranty.
