The rivals of the Peugeot 3008, which include the Hyundai Creta and Nissan Qashqai, face the limited edition Active aimed at Mzansi’s small SUV market.

Peugeot made its stylish SUV more stylish by adding a wallet-friendly version to its 3008 range – the entry level 1,2-litre Active.

In spite of its entry-level status, the limited edition newcomer gets a 1,2-litre Active on top its generous selection of features which includes 17-inch wheels, rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking and dual-zone climate control.

The modern interior layout boasts Peugeot innovative i-Cockpit with multifunction controls set on the steering wheel and a 12,3-inch digital instrument cluster.

The eight-inch colour touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth connections allows you to use your smartphone to get directions on the move.

Other comfort and convenience features are cruise control and hill assist among others.

The 3008 Active is big on space too and the boot will swallow 591 litres when the rear seats are folded up and 1 670 litres with them folded flat.

What is more is that the SUV has a handy fold-flat front passenger seat as well as 60/40 split rear seats and a boot floor that can be raised and lowered – it has more than enough space for every occasion.

Under this model’s bonnet is the state-of-the-art 1,2-litre three-cylinder turbopetrol engine.

The engine is fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox and has a top speed limited to 188km/h.

Peugeot claimed it uses just 5,5 litres of fuel every 100km.

The range of standard safety features on the 1,2-litre Active includes six airbags, ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution, emergency brake assist, traction control, dynamic stability control and electronic stability programme.

On top of the basics, the Active also has road sign detection, driver attention alert, lane departure warning, driver attention fatigue warning and Isofix child-seat mounts as standard features.

Buyers get a four-year/60 000km service plan and a three-year/100 000km warranty too.
